Featured Kitchen: Behind the Design

This bright & airy cottage kitchen is our featured kitchen of the month.

This Bella Grove cottage kitchen, like its owners, is special in many ways. They came to us with a photo of a decorative stone hood that they loved… Working together, we designed and built this amazing focal point of the kitchen. Because stone was problematic, we used wood materials with a sage green faux finish. The corbels, on the hood, were custom made in our shop, with wood pieces laminated together then cut to the specific shape the owner showed in her photo.

This entire kitchen uses UltraCraft cabinets with Royalton doors and glass doors with X grid mullion pattern in Arctic White. These owners had a strong attention to detail, and requested the cabinets reach the ceiling with heavy moldings and matching decorative end panels.

The beautiful countertops are Cambria®, which is an engineered quartz stone, with an inch and a half Ogee edge, one of the most popular materials used today. The backsplash was glazed subway tile in white. We added a popular stainless steel undermount sink.

The owners have many hand created pottery pieces, so we designed cabinets that had glass doors with X grid mullion pattern. In the cabinets we installed hidden puck lights in LED to add ambiance and flair.

Organization was very important to the owners as well as functionality. This is reflected in the interior design of the cabinets as well as the island, where we installed push latches on cabinet doors to provide storage where there otherwise would be unused space. We also installed wood tray dividers to hold a vast array of baking sheets and platters, as well as a blind corner base cabinet with Kessebohmer Lemans pull-out feature. We also added the much desired cutlery inserts to the flatware drawers.

The Bar

The owners requested a place to store beverages and serve guests. This was such a fun project! We used Eudora® cabinetry here, with raised-panel doors in bright white. Originally the shelves in the upper cabinet were wood. The owner decided she preferred glass shelves with a mirror back installed.

Our installer came in and added the glass shelves himself, to meet the owners wishes. We also installed mirrored subway tile for the backsplash to tie the look together. The countertop used here is also Cambria®.
